The half dozen
long stemmed
gloriously red roses
delivered to my door
in a pristine white box
tied up with red ribbon
Made me blush

Meant less to me
than the single
red carnation
wrapped in tissue paper
and the hand-drawn note
left taped to the door
by a very particular Someone

Although I wore the ribbon
in my hair
