Sonnet #12: Norman, Part 1

You seem to hold a place within my heart,
Though that position I cannot define.
I find you in my thoughts when we're apart;
When we're together, then myself I find
Returning your affectionate embrace.
Yes, you are dear to me, but it would be
Unfair of me to call it love. Your face
Reveals the depth of what you feel for me...
I wonder if you understand that I
Can never match it. For, you know too well,
There is another with a claim on my
Emotions, such as I can never tell.
And his is the true love-song that I sing,
And he is more to me than anything.
